Best loop format is .wav file with TCE (time compresion expansion) tags in them. The tags help to tempo match. Broadcast Wave Format (BWF) is an extension of the popular Microsoft WAVE audio format which contains extension chunks with additional information.
The proprietary formats (some .wav compatible) are: - Sony ACID (wav compatible) - Cakewalk "Groove clips" - Cubase supports "REX" files as well as acidized wav files. - HalionOne (from Cubase) has its own .hsb sound bank files. - Apple Garageband supports Apple Loops (AIF audio files with the TCE tags in it) - ProTools supported REX2 in earlier versions, but now a days more WAV format !!! - StylusRMX and many others -- REX2 format (Recycle something format) - DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATIONS: (Roland, Yamaha, etc.): 16-bit WAV more compatible vs 24-bit WAV. - Spectrasonics SAGE converter converts Akai and Roland format Groove ControlĀ® CD-ROM libraries to REX format.
